An out of the box approach to legal problems and conflicts may lead to atypical solutions. However, such solutions may sometimes serve the interest of the client faster and more efficiently.

Patrick Rubens

Patrick Rubens graduated from K.U. Leuven in 1991. During his traineeship at the Antwerp bar, he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and a special Master’s Degree in Maritime Science at Antwerp University. In 1996, he obtained a Master’s degree in Business Law at Antwerp University. In 2019 he obtained a certificate “Customs and Excise – Continuing education” organised by the University of Antwerp.

In 1996, he incorporated Marcon & Rubens along with Peter Marcon. From 1998 to 2005, he served as the secretary of UNIVERSHA, the maritime association for the University and Port. From 2008 to 2013, he served as the secretary of the ‘Study Circle for Maritime Insurance’. From 2001 to 2013, he lectured in English maritime law at the law faculty of Lille, France as part of the subsequent Master’s study programme ‘Droit de la Mer et des Activités Maritimes’. Up until 2013, he also taught the ‘Claims, Insurance and Dispute Settlement’ course, which is organised by PORTILOG.

Since 2013, he has been lecturing at PORTILOG as part of the ‘Master class Break bulk, Module 2, Insurance and Risk Management’ study programme.
